Introduction

How Are You Using Blogs

Question 1: Are you using blogs in your classroom? (Kahoot)

Question 2: If you are using blogs in your classroom, how are you using them or how could they be used? (Poll Everyone)

I created this blog to help teachers set up blogs to be dynamic textbooks that they can create for their classes.
I am a big fan of resource-based learning.  However, the difficulties that I found was collecting all my resources and keeping them organized.

I discovered that a blog is a perfect way to organize all my resources and concluded that what I was doing was creating a digital textbook that would be accessible to my students and myself anywhere.  In fact, instead of being a "textbook"; it would be a media book with audio, video, and text embedded into it.

I want to make clear that this is not an "online course" that you are setting up (though it could be used for one).  What you are creating is a resource to be a reference for you classroom teaching.  You would still use a variety of instructional strategies to help student interact with the blog.

Home Page

I like to use the "Home" page as my course outline.  I try to keep it simple with most of the text being as bullets or as lists.  For example:

Units

1. Basic Set-Up
2. Posts
3. Pages
4. Advanced Embedding Objects

Also, you can use this "Home" page as a table of contents by creating links for your students to access.
